While it's great
to have a Spartan Body, that is, building a lean, muscular body you can be proud
of. But looking good is just the start. You want to have a heap of Real World
functional strength, fitness and conditioning as well. You want to increase your
performance levels.
No matter whether
you participate in a sport or not you should train for a body with a lot of
strength, power, speed, stamina, endurance, general fitness and conditioning. A
body that functions perfectly and effortlessly to the best of it's ability.
The modern
Spartan Warrior is an athlete!
Let me give you
an example of what I'm talking about. I'm no Olympic Athlete or Worlds Strongest
Man by any means, but about three weekends ago (at the time of this writing) at
a friends place I did the following two things, which totally blew him away.
Firstly, I picked
him up and pressed him over my head about half-a-dozen times, which is a great
party trick. Thinking I was all strength and no fitness he challenged me to a
run the next morning for revenge. Poor guy. We ran for 8 miles and I not only
beat him
but I was in great shape at the end while he looked like he was ready to have a
heart attack!
How could I do
this? Obviously I have a huge advantage because of the "Spartan Health
Regime" diet I follow but the main reason was because I train for
functional strength and conditioning.
That is, strength
and fitness that is useful in the Real World.
While I'm on a
roll I have to give you another example of the benefit to this kind of training.
I was in a terrible emergency situation a while ago where I had to get someone
to the hospital
in a rush. It's the kind of time you are glad to have build useful strength
because I basically lifted them bodily and carried them all the way.
I didn't always
have useful strength.
Before I
discovered how to build real strength I was right into the whole bodybuilding
training thing. I would buy every book and magazine on the market and kill
myself training with the latest
breakthrough routine.
It really did
very little for me except end up injuring just about every joint in my body.
There is nothing more frustrating that training like an animal for so long for
so little results.
It wasn't until I
found some rare books on the old time strong men and strength athletes that I
started on the right path. Add that to studying the athletes of ancient Greece
and some very unconventional ideas from the present and I was soon gaining
strength like never before. Even while training at home.
Here's the funny
part. And I really hope this helps you guys and gals who are reading this
eReport.
I never really
put on much muscle until I started training for real strength.
I know that goes
against everything you get taught about bodybuilding and weight training. But
believe me it works. I've trained a lot of people since in the same way and they
all make the best strength and muscle gains of their lives.
I'm not talking
about the bloated, pumped-up, weak-as-water, over-inflated type muscle so many
steroid users build. I'm talking about dense, thick, powerful and totally
functional muscle. I always keep the image of the ancient Spartans in my mind.
They were Warriors. And warriors need strength and muscle that is useable.
Same goes with
fitness and conditioning. How pathetic is it to be muscular without the fitness
to back it up. All show and no go. Those kind of guys can't last more than a few
seconds in a real fight before collapsing from exhaustion. Or even run a few
blocks.
There was a
contest once between two famous bodybuilders to see which one could sprint the
fastest. Guess what happened? They raced but neither of them got to the finish
line. They both pulled up with hamstring injuries because they had no real world
conditioning or functional strength. Now that's sad!
So do yourself a
favor and train for Real World strength and conditioning. Not only will you be
fit and strong but I bet you end up leaner and more muscular anyway!!!

P.S.
The term "Real World Strength" actually came from Bruce Lee. He
was obsessed with getting more power and useable strength for his martial arts
and fighting.
