trained for the challenge of trekking 100km/62miles In the Oxfam Trek
for charity.

. . . Oxfam had the awards night earlier in the week
and I thought you might like to know that team Spartan raised roughly
$1,500, and all up everyone raised roughly $700,000 for the charity.
Although we did enter the event for the personal challenge, I think its
good to know we contributed to a worthwhile cause such as this.
I would also like to thank you for such a great
program. I have been reasonably fit for the last few years, but never
really got anywhere. Since becoming a Spartan, I have been able to have
access to a great motivational group, some great training information and
most importantly, the best diet information which I stick to religiously.
With all this knowledge behind me you may be happy to
know I will be competing in the Melbourne Marathon on October 12th
hopefully in a time between 3 - 3.5 hours. I will let you know how I go.

have been training martial arts for near on 6 years and have had some
difficulty in the past. For about a year I was extremely run down and
quite ill after an emotional breakup with a long term girlfriend. It was

I have been actively competing in the ISKA open
martial arts tournaments 2001 and achieved a high level of success. With

me achieve this. I am not a large person by any measure.....6'2" 78kg
but what there is of me is hard, active and useful.
Last week at gym, I had an argument with a local body
building muscle head. He has used steroids substantially and is of
enormous stature. At the time he was doing bicep curl...I was on the
weight rack next to him and noticed him grunting and moaning while
lifting a significant weight. He noticed that I was lifting the same
weight with apparently less effort...(55kg bicep curl). He asked me if I
wanted to achieve size increase and I answered no. The weight I am is
excellent for Karate and Kickboxing and I find using the concepts in the
Spartan Regime I can increase strength through the roof while
maintaining what is important to me. My question to Mr Flex was "How
much of your muscle and size is actually useful? Can you even do a chin
up?"....no! He could not believe that someone my size could exercise
with such high weights.
Working crowd control I have also found forearm
strength training to be exceptionally useful. Imagine their surprise
when someone of my stature escorts someone twice my size by way of arm
bar or lock, with little effort and energy. Your program is an
eye-opening at the least. Sticking to it is difficult but the 'road
less travelled' has incredible opportunities and the sense of
